Rear wheel arch replacement

Post by firstdub »

Our T25 had an argument with the corner of a wall today and although she put up a good fight, she has a few battle scars. It looks like I can get away with replacing the arch, which I have already ordered, and do a bit of filling. Is it possible to fit without welding or will it have to be welded? How easy is it to remove the damaged arch? I take it i'll have to cut it off? I was hoping I could bond the new arch on. Any ideas on the simplest and cheapest way to do this would be much appreciated. It could have come at a better time, we're going away in it in a couple of weeks for at least 3 weeks!

The problem with wheel arches (all panels, thinking about it) is there's probably rot along the seams where it is welded to the panels infront, behind, above and inside, so when you cut it off, you'll be faced with more fabrication work to make the surrounding areas good before you even think about welding the new one into place.

Have a look at some of MetalMickey's threads regarding rear wheel arch replacements for what i mean.

Oh the joys of owning a 25 yr old vehicle
