Any ideas whether it's an issue for the the mot? The lights work fine with the headlights on and just the ignition, fire it up and they all go off!

Posted a topic about this just the other day. see if you can find it under 'speleobod'. in technical Q & A if I look now I'll lose this screen .
Check your brown leads are all earthed properly to the 'rosette' behind the fuse box and check all the black leads are earthed.
I had exactly this problem and cured it by finding a stray brown lead refitting a female spade terminal

My van passed with no working dash lights and a couple of other faults as well.
I'm not sure if thats because they are not required for an MOT or whether I used a dodgy MOT station (by accident).
I did fail on a directional tyre being on the wrong way round though.
