Fitting injection fuel tank
Hey guys ,
Wondered if anyone has had issues fitting a injection fuel tank on an early bus ? My problem is that the tank I've ordered from Germany is too big and the straps don't go round it also the filling up nozzle is too small
Any help would be appreciated

Early had a 68mm filler hole and later had a 48mm.What year is your van?

I'm fitting a Subaru engine so need an injection tank I believe rob
Re: Fitting injection fuel tank
i have never had a problem with the ssize of the tanks.
early / late i have never seen a difference. have had later tanks fitted to earlier buses.
the lower tank straps are different but fitting is the same.
they also changed the tank sender design , cant remember if this is interchangeable tho
you will just need a later filler neck (plastic ) and the rubber on the end along with a grommet/seal for where it enters the tank.
everything else should be the same - from personal experience.

the early and late sender units are inter changeable and the early ones with steel stop are better as they have a shield around sender unit so the fuel guage does not wander when you go up and down hills and corner hard , i have a late injection tank and early sender unit in a early 81 van and it was a straight fit

Later injection tank also has larger fuel outlet pipe (main fuel line to engine)

Indeed..just that the existing supply line will need modding.
