gutter rubbers?

Post by Bert1985 »

Hi sorry guys I know this has been covered before as I remember reading it!!! we want to put some rubbers on our guttering so that the figure of 8 can attach for our awning. I seem to remember reading something about mini rubbers? if anyone could point us in the right direction that would be great.

Reason people fit the mini trim is cos its significantly cheaper and with right adhesive it fits absolutely fine. Also works on A pillars and available in a chrome finish too. Its not a perfect fit but fairly close.

No, theres an L-shaped version. I picked mine up at a combined mini/vw event. The lass was kind enough to cut me off a short section so I could nip out to car park and try it. Went back and bought quite a few metres as it was very cheap. Certainly it wasn't a VW trim replacement but it was close enough to make no real odds. Its too easy to get pulled into the 'Its genuine' thing and down a costly path simply through not thinking outside the box. Its always worth nosing around other vehicle events (particularly Brit car ones) as many of the trim types in the VW range were similar to those found on vehicles made here as far back as the 70s.

Thank you, I am glad I didn't just go ahead and order it as I had planned
Maybe we will wait and take the van with no awning to BVF (not taking the kids so won't really need the space) and see what we can find :ok

Woollies will probably have something that'll fit well. Especially when you look a bit closer at their website's header pic, and... what's that lurking in the back left?

Hi, just a quick question on the path to discovering why my awning leaked so much recently.

I just wondered why gutter rubber would help you attach your awning. Don't you slide the awning into a metal strip?

Our figure of eight doesn't hold tight onto the rail and we were told it was due to not having the rubber, I wouldn't take my word as gospel though. :ok
