Hi
So i understand that original power window sets are very hard to get and that they are slow and hard to repair.
Has anyone here fitted power window mechanisms from another car to a t25? Golf, passat, etc...
Is it hard to do?
I found a kit on ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221046334388? ... 1439.l2649" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Has anyone tryed it?
Thanks

Re: power windows
Tried to search this forum but no luck.
I'm not registered in brickyard so if you have a link would be very helpful
Thanks

Re: power windows
So i was unfortunate enough to buy the kit from the link above. And what a surprise - IT DOES NOT FIT!!!
I tried to fit them today and looks like they are made wrong. So i made photos and will try to explain the problem. The original old one is exactly on top on the new one. I placed the manual for reference. And you can see that the fixing no.3 does not match (red line). Yellow arrow points out that the angle of the tube is wrong. There is no way of inslalling where the old one used to be. Also the inside of the door frame is in the way.

Such a disappointment.
I dont want to try to bend the tube, as i think i might not succeed
Any thoughts?

Re: power windows
I fitted that kit a few weeks back. Was frustrating as hell due to the reasons outlined above. I ended up drilling new holes for the motor mount and all is fine once it's hidden behind the door card. Once in they work well enough, time will tell regarding longevity.

Re: power windows
I ended up bending the metal tube a little and chopping the end of it as much as I could, just enough to put the plastic tube back. That way it almost fits in place. Now it sits tight but works ok. I also had to widen one hole in the window mount, as one was ok, ant the other one mill to the left. Was frustrating having to take it in and out for measuring. I think i have scrached the whole insife of the door which will have to be rustproofed again.
So one door done. Now i have to do the other door.
The thing I don't understand is was it so hard to manufacture them right in the first place?
