Uninspiring awnings

Post by jamiehamy »

Hi folks,

I've been looking online and through the forum using search but not found an awning for my tintop that I like.

I'm looking for something fairly simple and compact to use as storage and sleep two adults side by side. I'd like something that will run along th side of the van and be no higher than the van - everything else out there looks huge, which I eally don't want. I don't want to use it for cooking or living, just to give some extra space and allow extras to come camping.

If something exists that I've missed, would be grateful for pointers. Something like this that will fit the T25 (looks way too tall) http://m.gumtree.com/suncamp-260-carava ... e=1#awning" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks, j

Hi we have a kyham awning that is not to big ,it is very easy to put up and it has a bedroom compartment that hooks onto the inside of one half of the awning.

How about a small / medium tunnel tent or dome tent? Won't attach to the side of the van obviously but would give you some extra space and avoids the problem of having to get the van in exactly the same spot after you've been for a drive and come back to a drive away awning.

It could be "linked" to the side of the van by a canopy that covers the gap, see Kev's pics in this thread:

Any side loading tent with a combined ground sheet will attach to a van.. you just have to use you imagination sometimes and make work for you.
Thing is manufacturers only supply popular versions of awnings.

i did this for a two week stay in one place.

How about a caravan store roll-out awning with the "privacy room" zip on thingy

http://www.fiammastore.com/Fiamma-Motor ... van-Awning

A little too pricey for me but I have very deep pockets and extremely short arms :run

One for sale on here too....https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=104121

Loving the Caravnstore nevil, thanks for sharing the link. THat is just the type of thing I was thinking of. The price however...lol

So awnings - i've never used noe before, let alone fit it. For the caravan store, it is permanently attached to the van, or does it detach for travel?

Setting off on our first proper trip up the west coast tomorrow, so hopefully by the end we'll have a really good feel for what's important.

Thanks all or suggetions, if anything else comes up, please share,

Cheers, Jamie

Thanks waltraud. I'e had a look but nothing listed under awnings - I see a few dome tents with a canopy, was this the type of thing?

Currently having a great week up the west coast, but an awning will be nice.

cheers, J

I'm not sure it would be listed as an awning, perhaps a canopy or extra spare room?
