running without thermostat, A/C

Post by redstar »

can you do the above as i think mine is knackered....
(just looked at JK and they want £50)
is it possible to set the flaps inside the tinware to
cool to the desired level without a stat being in?
if so,do you have the cable tight, or loose??
or set halfway?? does it matter that much??(probably)

any help would be most welcome as always...

Going back to bug days which also have flaps controlled by a similar thermostat (rod rather than cable) it is possible to wedge the flaps open but bear in mind that this means the engine takes ages to get warm then and since most wear on an engine is in the starting, a cold engine can reduce the oils ability to reach the top parts of the engine. VW fitted one for sound reasons. Always fit a replacement - go for the second hand one:)

Hi Neil. its in the post to you, had to free off the sleeve nut so you can fit your cable in it.
