Off road holidays

Post by tforturton »

Has anyone on here done anything like this? I know there are the occasional Syncro trips to Spain and such, but I was wondering if these organised ones were any better/worse. What are the advantages/disadvantages?

I'm sure there's loads of other companies out there offering similar things, I just wondered if anyone on here had tried them. Seems a pretty sensible way of doing it - and they do the cooking.

They do indeed! I haven't done anything about that! It was just me thinking ahead. Might get there one day.

Not done any organised tours in this country but did the Picos last year which was brilliant without being overly demanding. One of the best bits was that being new to Syncros we learnt so much from the others there (even Terry   ). Rob did a great job of the organisation and you need someone like him to make it happen and work. We can't make it this year (children getting married etc) but we are hoping that there will be one in 2013 and we'll be there.

We haven't made one of the Syncro meets in the UK yet but intend to rectify that in Devon in early August.

Talk of the Picos reminds me that I found a load of unedited video that I'd forgotten all about  Will have to get that sorted and posted!

Here's a couple of pics to wet your appetite:

generally we play together on events/trips we arrange ourselves, small groups, bigger groups and there are some other VW things going on like ArcticCircle meet, SyncroTreffen in Germany, events with the French Syncro club etc...

1200 pounds for 15 days, guided, fully catered trip to Marocco looks like really good value. Looks like they also cover camp site costs and breakdown recovery.

I've been to Marocco on an organised mountain bike tour with Wildcat Tours. As with Waypoint they organised accommodation, food, etc and I really enjoyed the experience.

If you go on the 15th October I might even join you as it looks like the Picos trip this year could be a non-starter.

Don't think the bus will be ready for camping before then. And Marocco is a long way from here! I'm thinking about maybe doing something at next year, but a bit closer - perhaps Portugal or the Pyrenees.

Could be a few of us up for a Pyrenees trip next summer, we'll be talking to the French about it over the next few weeks
