Diesel pump leak

Post by kit »

The pump on my 1.9 1y is weeping around the end where the pipes leaves the pump, I have dismantled an old pump to get a feel for what could be wrong and It looks as though the O ring is letting by, I have trawled Ebay but I don't seem to able to locate a replacement, has anyone got any idea where I might locate one ? Thanks.

Hello,

I think this kit has the head pump seal - which is what it sounds like you need:

http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/shop?page=s ... gory_id=96" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

a lot of places recommend a "viton" seal. There's a dieselgeek how to about how to change it with the pump in place too if that's of interest I'll try and dig it out

That would be great thanks, I have emailed Brickwerks to ask if it contains the seal I need.

Hi Kit,

really sorry - forgot to post these links:

http://www.dieselgeek.com/v/install_gui ... cement.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.dieselgeek.com/TDI_Pump_Head ... s/1873.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think that procedure still applies for all IPs despite it being tdi specific - they all have that seal as far as I know. Hope you've found the seal you need.

Unfortunately my mechanic assured me he could do it with the kit from Brickwerks and I now have a van which will not start, In ended up getting it towed away from his workshop so if you know of a good 1y Bosch pump let me know :cry:

Oh no - sorry mate, that's crap. I have two tdi pumps - one 1Z and another AHU but they won't do for an 1Y. I have a tdi cylinder head and 1z turbo too if you found a good block ;-)
