Fitting buddy seat with 3-point seatbelt?
Hi all,
I wondered if anyone has managed to fit a buddy seat with a 3-point seatbelt? I want something safe for the kids - all under 8 years old. Would be grateful for any tips / ideas. Is there a particular type of buddy seat I should use, e.g. Multivan, Dormobile or standard type that fits the portapotty?
Thanks,
Tom

I shamelessly copied this idea for our jump seat,it uses the same mounting points as the cab seatbelts, but can't rememberer which car the belt from,If I get chance I'll dig it out the loft and see if If there any clues on it( we are using a middle bench at the moment)

The original rear lap belt isn't bad on a rear facing seat.

The main problem with the buddy seat is passenger can be thrown sideways more than they might in any other seat as theres nowt to hold on to. You could bolt on an arm on the innermost side I suppose. Have considered that one myself.

Hi Robin,
The links to your pics not working anymore is there any chance of seeing them somewhere? We have a Holdsworth villa 3 which I'm desperately trying to keep with a 3rd child on the way. I'm hoping to fit some sort of rear facing seat backing onto the passenger seat and utilising the passenger seats anchor points for the seat belts. Something I can fold up or unbolt and remove would be ideal. I'd anyone else has any suggestions it would be good to hear.
Regards
Kieron

Re: Fitting buddy seat with 3-point seatbelt?
Hi all,
I'm in the same predicament - need that third seat with a 3 point as my little girl is too big for the bucket seat that worked of the rear centre lap belt. I'm about to buy a multivan jump seat but would appreciate any picks/links on how to get/fit the 3 point belts. My van is a Bilbo's conversion so I may not have the point for the shoulder strap, but may be able to get a longer bolt for the drivers one and pull both off the same.
Robin - you still got those pics knocking about - be great to see them but the link's offline

Re: Fitting buddy seat with 3-point seatbelt?
With another nipper on the way I'm considering my options for fitting a rear facing buddy seat with 3point harness, in my Westy California (LHD), behind the passenger seat. I appreciate that this is going to prevent the passenger seat from being spun, but looking at options. I don't really want to modify the van to accomodate a 3 point belt on the cupboard side of the rear seat, nor do I want to start drilling the floor to mount a buddy seat, as the van is pretty OG.
Q1 - Is there a seat that will bolt in using 'bog box' bolt holes?
Q2 - Is there a 3 point buddy seat that is safe enough to transport a child, but can be folded up to give more space when not travelling?
Q3 - Is there a seat on the market that can be removed quickly?
Q4 - Any thing I may have missed?
Thanks,
Bob

Hi _Robin,
I've just got hold of one of these seats and I saw your description of fitting in the archive too. I'm really desperate to get this on board for a trip coming up, but want to do it properly and safely. Unfortunately none of the pics in either of your posts are now active. I'm really interested in how you used some steel in the box to bolster the mounts for the seat bar, and managed to avoid bolting through the wheel arch behind the fuel inlet pipe etc. I'm also very keen to see how your seat belt was set up.
Is there any chance you could possibly put up/send me some pics and if possible some measurements eg - position of mounting seat bar and the base mounting holes, seat belt bolt postions etc? From hours of searching I've found many people asking about these seats and how to fit, but few answers, so any info you can offer would be a great help to me and many others too.
Cheers,
Dan
