Gloucestershire mechanics and some engine advice...

Post by purplecrocs »

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in the Gloucestershire area that really knows their VW t25s?

Also, I'd be grateful on some advice on what to do about my engine Its a DG 1.9 petrol in an '85. I'm currently too scared to take the van abroad from trips as the last decent mechanic who looked at it (when I was in Sussex) said it was on its last legs... it leaks a bit of oil, apparently all telescopic push rods have been put in (no idea what that means)... its also quite noisy - clackity, I know the tappets arent generally quite on these but not sure how normal mine is. oh.. the gear box isnt in great shape either!

So.. should I replace it, get it rebuilt etc... again, if theres anyone local that I can take it too that you know of that would be great!

Thanks
