For Roving Rich The Unmint Vans !

Post by jebiga41 »

“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
― Emma Lazarus

Roving Rich wrote: Most owners on this forum seem to have mint Syncros with many additional toys.
After reading Rich's post on Slobbos thread I think its time to introduce the unmint unshiney vans.

Roving Rich wrote: But it is a very long way from being mint and is unlikely to ever be so. I bought it to have adventures in that I can share with my family.
For me this is the spirit of the Syncro I don't want a van that I'm worried abut scratching its paint thats not to say I don't appreciate mint or shiney vans they are just not for me.
So this is for the the unwashed, the underdogs, the unsung heroes, the tatty ones, the "rolling restorations" that we love. No Chelsea Tractors allowed !!!!

Feel free to introduce yours
I'll start
Tinkerbelle aka "The Horse" The Pikey Queen that we all know and love

Dala my baby she's dirty, dented, scratched, has been through the wars, has a different coloured back door, has rust showing in places, been smoked in, had beer spilled over her, but I love her and will never sell her :D

had been worked hard by vattenfall with 250000km on the clock when i brought it back from sweden 8 years ago.
the gearbox has only just given up ( well i had kept it in 4th gear with a bungee for a couple of years so i knew it was on the cards ) and i have just rebuilt the trailing arms as they had started to collapse, but theres nothing to beat it when logging in the woods, getting to tricky surf spots or just pissing about in the snow.
and so far (fingers firmly crossed), nothing i cant fix.

And introducing Edna for those who don't know her

note the special breather below the indicator lens and the scratches and the rust and compare to the shiney customer 2wd van :D

and can you identify the two things in this picture that are relatively new and shiney (ps one of them isn't  )

The Blue Moose, blistered and beaten and now engine-less once again for a bit... I'll sort that soon enough but not in time for SP :( Definitely one of the "almost-rolling" restorations and most certainly a "thinking man's Land Rover" (tm)
