exhaust gases in cab?

Hi think i have exhaust gases in cab of 2.0 Aircooled.
Will a co2 detector from b+q confirm or not?
Suspect heat exchangers gone ifis exhaust gas if so what best way to disconnect as happy to run without any heat in van over summer?
