Hi All,
Hi All,
The steering on my van has recently started to feel a bit wierd. When you turn the steering wheel when stationary it judders and feels as if you're pushing through some friction. It also squeeks at the same time!! It doesn't domit when driving along, only when staionary or very slow.
The van was off the road for the winter, although I did drive it every couple of weeks to keep it running.
A local mechanic took a cursory glance and suggested the bushes needed changing. Any further thoughts from anyone? It's only started happening a week or so, funnily enough after I had the service done!
It's a 1990 Westy LHD 1.6td with power steering.
Thanks in advance.
Matt

Re: Steering Issues
Since service....hydraulic power steering.....squeeling....sounds like the power steering belt is slipping.

Thanks guys,
Sorry for the delayed gratitude but I've been away and not checked the forum. I will get the belt checked out.
