clutch pipe size

Post by Cyrus »

Sorry if this has been dealt with before but I can`t find the pipe size anywhere.
Looking at Brickwerks clutch repair kit it would appear to be 6mm, using a wade compression fitting to join the pipe.
Is this correct?
if so is 6mm pipe a standard plumbing/heating pipe?
Cheers cy :ok

I used 1/4 brake pipe and drilled out the fittings to suit.

It's a standard automotive kunifer size, all the fittings are off the shelf.

As Ian has put , these pipes are not there made out of just any old pipe , you get that wrong and you will have brake fluid leaking out all over the place, get the right stuff and do it right not bodging it !!!!!!!

Oh no I was on about drilling the fittings out not the pipe. Obviously used brake pipe but the fittings were tight so I drilled them out on a lathe. Think I removed 0.3mm in the end.

perhaps you should think a little more before you post something that may be misunderstood and be dangerously taken as safe practice ?

we all do stuff maybe that is not good practice when we are in a corner and sometimes there is no option , but remember that some reading this take everything as "gospel" so add a footnote or explain the circumstances please when posting "bodges" !

Cheers for posts guys. I managed to track down some pipe and they said on the phone they'll match up unions etc when I get there with a cut off bit of pipe. After 1hour bus journey around everywhere I got there, they had the pipe but when I asked about fittings they said " no we just sell the 3/8" ones" (why sell pipe but no fittings?)
So off I went home and called brickwerks who said they'll sort a kit out and get it to me tommorow morning.
Fingers crossed.
