Oil leak

Post by The Bishop »

One of my push rod tubes is leaking and I need to get round to replacing it.

How essential is it that I get this fixed. ie how quick do I have to get on with it? What's going to happen if I ignore it?

I appreciate that it's not good for the environment (or motorcyclists) for me to be losing oil all over the place (good enough reasons on their own to fix it). But being selfish for one moment, am i just going to have to keep toping up until I get it sorted?

Thanks

I know they're not cheap and some people can knit them from unicorn hair for less but they are the answer to your problem. :ok

Ian

PS You haven't put semi-pathetic oil in have you ? These seem to be the first things to fail. If so swap back to Mineral 15w/40 and see if that helps.

The newest MOT regs may lead it to fail sadly.

I've heard they are giving advisories out for oil & coolant leaks this year, depending how bad it is. They've had the powers to for a while so I'm lead to believe.

:D thanks Kev, In fact it is only my remorse for the families I might destroy that is currently encouraging me to get on with the job. I'm a motorcyclist and hate slippery oil patches. I would hate to think that my oil was the cause of an accident (and I assume if it could be traced I would have a legal liability).

Must look at Ian's link and get the job done.

(Incidentally, I'm off to Europe in he summer, does that make it a more pressing job?)

Are you certain its one of your pushrods, and not your low oil pressure switch leaking? Which side of the engine we talking about?
