Replacing gearbox spigot Bearing
I have just removed my gearbox due to a grinding noise when the clutch was depressed, i have found that there is a lot of play in the gearbox input shaft, How hard is it to replace the spigot bearing? Is there any drawing of the gear box?
Is there a stockiest of gearbox spare parts bearing seals etc?
Any help would be appreciated,

Re: Replacing gearbox spigot Bearing
Brilliant thanks i will order a new spigot bearing and seal. There is loads of play in the gearbox input shaft and there is a wear/rubbing mark on the outside of the clutch plate cover.

Replacing gearbox spigot Bearing
Replacing the spigot bearing is easy stand the box on its bell end. Drain. Remove mount and top casing and replace bearing but will it stop the play? Expensive part.

The spigot bearing is in the end of the crankshaft NOT in the gearbox.

Re: Replacing gearbox spigot Bearing
Take a look at the picture in Cleavesy31 last post.....the input shaft that sticks out has a smooth bit on the end...YES? that pokes through the middle of the clutch YES? this smooth end is supported by a needle roller bearing located BEHIND the clutch in the end of the crankshaft....It is called the SPIGOT SHAFT BEARING.
Remove the clutch to replace this bearing.
