Post by JohnJono »

Hi all,

There was talk on 80-90 some time ago about a longer final drive from
Long Enterprises, Does anyone have a phone number or a web address?

.Also is anybody running one of these final drives?
.How much was it?
.Does it bring the RPM down alot?

I'm running a taller third and fourth gear from Long Enterprises. They're also heavier duty too - about half the tooth pitch of the standard gearset.

Believe me, it's a LOT taller than standard. My previous gearset was on 4.86 diffs with a 0.86 top gear. I now have 0.77 top, if you wanted they'll go down to 0.70, but I will say that my 2.2 Subaru struggles to push 0.77 up STEEP hills, so think carefully about your gear choice before going upwards.

I have a spreadsheet of all of the costs and ratios available as well as all of the contact details for Long Enterprises, if you need.

For Diamond Hell

Bit confused now, I have a 1983 westy which originally ran a 1.6N/A, it now has a 1.9 DT AAZ that i changed last summer.
I reused the old 300,000k 5 speed gearbox, but now with the extra power
the box has started to knock and vibrate.
Im going to have the box reconed so was thinking about changing the gearing at the same time.
what would you recommend?
