Coolant issues

Post by mioba »

Hi All,

I have a technical question I hope you can help me.

On a long run in the bus (1.6JX) the coolant from the main tank (in the engine tank) moves to the coolant in the expansion tank (behind the number plate).

My reference to the main tank and expansion tank is based on thier location and may not be the coorect terminology.

After such an event the tank behind the number plate becomes totally full of coolant. On cooling there is no return of the coolant to the tank in the engine bay.

The blue cap on the tank in the engine bay was renewed abiut two years ago.

Futhermore there is a slight seepage of i think oil, from between the head and the block, this is only small but looks bad because the hot oil is spread quiet far.

Thanks for your thoughts and comments!

Despite the cap only being two years old CHANGE IT but make sure it is replaced with a genuine item.....go from there.
