I have been researching the possibility of underfloor heating for my own van - not convinced yet, but I did stumble across this article and it looks promising that a solution is out there

18 January 2012
Elddis has announced that it will be installing Whale underfloor heating systems in half of its fleet of caravans and motorhomes.

Renowned in the industry as a name that provides quality water and heating systems, Whale will now work with the County Durham-based manufacturer on more than half of its models, including the Xplore and Avante caravan ranges and the best-selling Autoquest motorhomes.

Elddis were one of the first 'vanmakers to adopt the most recent range of Whale's underfloor Space Heaters and Rapid Heat Water Heaters, and they have been quick to praise how the system frees up more space to use as storage, while also cutting excess weight.

Mad IMO.

The electric type can only be used when hooked up to 240V. (far better off using an oil filled radiator).
The hot water type is an awful lot of effort to heat up a small amount of floor. (far better off using a propex or eberspacher).

That's effectively an underslung propex and the elddis web is referring to underslung equipment rather than underfloor as in a domestic situation which I think the OP was referring to (underfloor electric or wet systems rather than 'underslung').

I'm on the 'mad' side of the fence too - I certainly wouldn't fancy the idea of a wet system under the floor in case of leakage and I'd imagine the lifetime of the electric system would be severely shotened by all the inherent vibration caused by a moving vehicle. Not to mention what a PITA either would be to install in the first place.

No, it's madder than a box of frogs.......
