ETKA 7.3

Post by torchy »

I have been enjoying ETKA for a while now but during a recent update it came up with "C Drive crashed computer shuting down......."or something like that and the computer shut down and it hasn't worked since. When I restarted it had the warning "Start Windows normally" prompt.

Anyone else had this problem? or is the moral of the story...don't update?

Any one know if I just try and reinstall the program from disc it will work?

Look forward to get it back 'cause I have problems with both of them :(

don't know for sure but I know if I try and install ver 7 on a pc with ver 6 on or that has ever had ver 6 on it doesn't update to ver 7 and it's impossible to remove all traces of the old installation so can't change it
So I have ver 6 on the PC and ver 7 on the laptop, but they aren't updateable copies just working cracked ones
I also use ETOS which is a nicer programme (proper windows programme) and which is updateable for prices
the only thing ETOS doesn't do is some of the additional functions like all gearbox all engine codes lists and ATP that's about all I use ETKA for these days

Torchy, this is more likely a coincidence (assuming, when you say "hasn't worked since" you mean the whole PC, not just ETKA ?)

If Windows crashed and now will not boot up correctly, it is more likely a failing hard drive (though it can be other things too) The first thing to do is run CheckDisk on that hard drive.

Will it boot into Safe Mode ?

In case you don't know about Safe Mode, read this = http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Let me know how you get on (it's my job :) )

In Windows 7 you can run any program in "XP compatiblity mode" - just right click the .exe file and select it :)

ETKA needs a half decent graphics card to work.
