Do not accept second rate parts being fitted in an attempt by the garage to maximise their profit, as has been said before Brickwerks fit what they sell.

Or go to VW Commercial. They don't do everything but they can get most of those bits in. I've lost count of how many times their prices have been less than say GSF.

However I'm also a realist and accept that not everyone who reads the forum has the funds to buy what they'd really like and have to scrabble around to get what they can afford, whether false economy or not. That often gets overlooked in my view. It won't be the first time I've had to help someone recycle a couple of CV joints just so they can keep their van going. Life is tough for a lot of people right now.

It doesn't sound like a horrendous amount of work there but when the work is farmed out, whoever does it puts their own price on things.

Well, VW Commercial is rather split these days. My advice is find your nearest one (they're all over the country) and get a quote on what you need. http://www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk/van-ce ... an-centre/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Often pays to visit them - their parts people are usually very helpful.

Some parts, although unavailable through their commercial outlets are available via their 'VW Classic' website and can be ordered online. Generally these are original parts but some are of course obsolete. You get to know whats available though.

ha ha just took the van back and seems the bushes are not quite the same as the ones shown on wiki as i have just pointed out to the mechanic and the steel sleve spacer has not been replaced just the inner and outer bushes .this is an easy mistake to make i now realize after some reading.
the garage have apologized and are re ordering the parts from brickwerks at their cost and giving me an engine steam clean :D

:shock: Didn't they understand how the nuts/bushes/washers/spacer assembly works ? .... Methinks I'd be looking for a new garage. :shock:
