Help, Transverse or Inline TDI ?

Post by rogerg-wagon »

Anybody tell me if the Golf ,Passat TDI transverse engines are the same block as the Audi inline units, just asking if they have the same locations on the block for engine mounts etc.,
I need to source another TDI engine for a friend of mine.

Hi Rog. No, the bosses on the block can vary significantly between transverse and longitudinal versions. Not only the mounts, but on the later engines the water pump assembly is quite different. Coming to Shipston ?
Syncrosport (taking a break as of summer 2024)
Volkswagen Transporter, reloaded.

My son has to replace a TDI engine in a Audi A4 and thought it would be easier to source a Golf of Passat variant.
