Devon R & R bed, Help please

Post by ambibus »

Hi Every one

would some body be kind enough to post pictures of a Devon R & R bed in the seat and folded flat as a bed position. I dismantled mine before xmas to remove the plastic coating and repaint it. I took pictures before i did this and wrote seat back base left and right but they don't seem to make sense.

I bolted it inposition this after noon but when flat the frame floats about 10" in the air and rocks like a see saw, I presumed the frame would sit flush with the engine cover/lid. Also when in this position the hinges form a triangle that would dis embowel you if you rolled over onto them. I'm sure its something simple but can't sus it.
Failing photo's should the bed frame sit level with the load area on a devon conversion or will I need to build a box over this area?
:? :?

This may help

Disembowelment it is :D . It sits higher as the rear is supposed to sit on a fibre glass tray that you probably have not got anymore. Most people build a storage box for it to sit on.

Hi Billy bigspud,

thanks for the reply, thought it looked to simple a design! I was convinced the load area made up the remaining area of the bed. off i goto the timber merchant for more yet wood and ply. He gets his holiday brochure out now when I go in I'm spending so much money there
