Flashing fast. Any ideas?

Post by matt_wannabe »

Today my right indicators decided to start flashing faster than normal. I automaticlly assumed i had a bulb out but when checked found they were both working fine. Left indicators are working as they should as are the hazzards. Id take a guess at a dodgy relay but if anyone has suffered from this fault could you please share how it was rectified please.

Would that not cause the bulb to not illuminate at all though? All the bulbs flash but the right side is just faster? Electrics on these things aint my strong point.

Can't be the relay because the same relay is used for both sides.

I would replace the bulbs on the faulty side (even though they are working) and whilst doing so, clean up the connections inside the holders (very thoroughly) and the earth connections outside of the bulb holders. Reason = although the bulbs are flashing, an alteration in total electrical resistance in the circuit is what triggers the relay control unit to flash the lights fast.

Fixed it. There was a bulb out which i didnt notice because for some reason there is 2 bulbs in the front lenses. Doubt this is standard and i have no idea why its like that. Anyone come across this before?
