Please tell me the changing of a starter motor on a 2.1DJ with a rear diff lock is supposed to be a horrible job. Fiddly, too many things to remove to get to it and that's if you can. Had to grind back an allen key to get to the back of the top bolt, on the existing starter motor. I replaced it with a bolt that only needs a spanner to hold it, that should make it easier next time!
I wish I had changed it when the engine was getting swapped, but it was fine at the time.
Copper bush?! What copper bush?

Oh that stupid thing that needed pulling out with a M14 tap! I didn't want to get that wrong.
First time I had a proper look at the rear diff actuator... I had to cut off the black rubber hose that surrounded the roll pin, would this affect the rear diff or was it protection? I re-fitted, but it would not hold a vacuum.
I'm going to test it tonight if I get time, it was sticking previously..
The black rubber "hose"is to keep the crud out! inside you'll find a red "difflock actuator gaiter" if thisis damaged you will loose vacuum.Brickwerks sell 'em for £2.76 a pop!

aaa great, it was just the black hose that was damaged. The red gaiter looked good and I manually moved it in and out to try and get the rear diff going again. It's a job I will need to tackle and test properyl, but thought I would give it a nudge whilst it was there.
Does the bentley cover this? Aint got it yet, but would like it if it can show diagrams etc.
