!st coat of top colur, went on well but much slower than i thought it would. followed the advice in the Painting your van DVD(if you havnt bought a copy, get one).
With anything , you learn as you are doing it.
Only problem is now, i have to leave it uncovered , outside with no windows in and unlocked(no handles) might get Andrea to sleep in it tonight to stop the theives nabbing it :run

Due to the "pooh" weather not got much done to the bodywork apart from rubbing down ready for second coat.
Roof now has the second coat of paint on and is finnished.
Ive moved the electic fuel pump from its high position in the engine bay to a position down next to the tank so it now primes all the time when left for a while .
Would it be worth making a splash guard for it? its mounted on the inside face of the RH chassis rail.
fitted complete new run of fuel hose from pump to the carb, easy job and if anyone else is thinking of doing it i used a 10' length of 8mm bore hose.
Today ive been re covering some of the internal panels ready for when i can get cracking with the interior.

One job less for later when the weather is a bit better

This is the small compartment that fits over the bed in the rear. had to re make the unit as the original one was starting to go a bit wibbly wobbly.

We have decided to mount a stereo in the back which will be run off the leisure battery when parked up. It was on offer at Halfords and when i got that i got a tenner off the speakers :ok

more work on bits that can be done inside out of the rain
started on recovering the side panels for the pop up roof.
Image
Peeling off the old vynal after heeting with hot air gun
Image
Re covered
Image
Decided to tackle the manky headlining next
Image
Image
not used a sewing machine for ages but managed to set it up on my own
First little tester to make sure it was all ok
Image
All marked out
Image
Point of no return
Image
Job done
Image
just gotta get round to fixing it in place
Should look better than before as the lining carpet had been glued over the first 6" of the headlining.
ive cut the lining carpet to fit under the clips at the back of the cab so there should be a nice neet join between headliner and carpet.]
Coming on slowly, dont know if it will be readyto go any shows in this year

Got recovered sides on the roof today.
Image
Its a royal pain in the a*** doing all this on your own :( things are always heavier when ballancing on tip toes and trying to get screws in and having a cuppa at the same time.
Once sides were on i recovered the pop up roof section. I love this megga stretch carpet. wish id done the outside of the van with it
Image
Wanted to get some more paint on this weekend but weather has been against me again( wettest first 6 months since records began apperently)
hope this thread is giving folk inspiration for what can be done at home.

got all new rubber seals fitted to the pop out roof sections and around the fibre glass roof section today.
Refitted some of the sliding door internal fittings .
Fitted two new foot well lights, wired up to the door switches. Should make it a bit brighter in the winter when getting in and out of the van.
Other than that , rain stopped play this afternoon with a mega thunderstorm :(

Vinyl came from here, its a bit of a bugger to put on and make sure you sand the sides down and clen very well before applying new stuff.http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Zoom-Trading-U ... 4340.l2563" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
