Not sure ...it had a re-build on the original engine from the paperwork ..so no really .
originally a BUS D with twin sliding doors and holdsworth conversion ..

Maybe send her for a setup and see what happens

My guess is that it's come out of a car and the normal swap over parts haven't been swapped over, look at the angle of the breather on the rocker cover and the LDA on top of the fuel pump. http://shop.vw-bus.com/product_info.php ... -Pump.html Looking underneath, has the the oil sump got a really flat bottom?

The sump is flat i think..with the turbo pipe coming out of it ...
Looks like a swop out then and not a re-build like they said...

No diesel electrical relay box in JX posn (n/s firewall) ?

Oil filter and head angled, is that a clue...

Not AAZ 'cos no block breather

Return feed straight back to tank, no fuel filter pre-heat(a good thing!)

Proper Bosch LDA inj pump ?

Wonder if just needs fuel turning up or LDA getting going

I suppose you could just connect the LDA hose (which can be seen going down behind rocker cover to inlet manifold) to a foot pump pressure gauge to check boost... but normally you'd have to drive under load to see real boost, revving doesn't do much

Bet there's probably not much wrong... unless its timed wrong!

This link from the Wiki details several VW Diesel codes and where the code is on the block

https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Di ... gine_codes

and another view, engine code and number should be on the machined surface above the breather outlet (sometimes has been machined off - refurbs)
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> vvv Here vvv <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

It's a 1.9
Underneath cast into the block should be a BIG 1.9 (TD) , maybe not easy to see with the turbo and manifold nearby

I'm sure it will go OK when you find out what's wrong... its been played about with so its probably simple.

Bacause it has 3 bolts holding the rocker cover down, so that makes it a 1.9D/TD
If it had 8 around the edge it would have been a 1.6D/TD or a 1.7D

Looking at the rocker cover I would say it's either a 1X or a ABL, Niether would of hav=de that injection pump though so I suspect it's a frankenengine made up of parts of different engines.

That's about what mine was, based on an ADE block (1Y industrial, but with oil jets)

Pump timing springs to mind..

It's not a biggy to sort a boost gauge, or even a temporary one in cab to check, v.cheap or borrow, just the loose running of small-bore tube really and a 'Y' piece at the Injector LDA connection

Is it that easy to fit a boost gauge in the Cab Harryman?

Y piece on the LDA connect and a length of tubing that runs to a gauge in the cab?

What about an oil pressure gauge?
Cheers,
