It is alot more controlled, I have spent the last couple of months researching and listing towing/snatch/winching techniques and trying a few out. I plan on doing a video soon that might be of interest, i got inspiration on a recent trip to the science museum last month in the kids learning zone while messing with pulleys and stuff

I learnt about a 3 pulley system recently. I hadn't realised what potential they have until now. I'm a bit surprised these types of systems aren't already ustilied in recovery situations.

Unbelievable isnt it? Made me think what you could do with a smaller winch to cut down on up front weight I am going for an extra pulley from the anchor point then the plasma rope back to the van to cut down a hell of alot of strain on the winch. Again these controlled methods cut down on a hell of alot of danger situations.

Your going to have to do a hell of a lot on the Hi-Lift to take up all that rope/wire. When I was looking for plasma rope to replace the heavy steel wire on my winch (its super expensive) I was bummed out because I thought I only needed 9 meters and it only comes on a 30 meter length or something. I have since found out why it comes in such a long length as pulling straight out is seen as vulgar

I'm trying to build up my kit slowly so I don't shell out on anything that will be useless to me after I add something better suited later. So the jack will get me out of trouble for now, but for sure I want a winch some where down the line

Still working on the lift kit with Dave from Futbus. Got myself two front and two rear spare drive shafts and I'm building them up with new front outers from Simon and the current standard CVs I'm running at the moment, as I'll be going Porsche with the lift kit.

Got a couple of different length strops, the pulley blocks, assortment of bow shackles, and the jack.

Gotta get the damn tyres changed; the side walls are completely perishing. I went out today and just couldnt believe at some stages I didn't pop them! I don't want to change them over until I lift it and I know how much space I really have, and where the wheels are gonna sit.

Have you thought of putting 2wd springs on the front and making spacers on the back for under £20 for your lift?

To be fair to the education system yeh.. It just wasnt that interesting back then and being from Bolton where a sliced loaf is state of the art, school boy stuff is exiting when you can actually see it working and want to understand it. I know its basic stuff but still bloody clever hey

Actually going for a second hand set of heavy duty longer springs for the rear. Didn't know you could put 2wd springs on the front for lift. What do they raise by?

Chemistry, physics and biology were combined into a double award GCSE when I was at school. No clear distinction between them. I got a Double B Which was about the only thing I was good at.

Snap. I did the same subjects at A level. I chained the physics; chemistry was tough. Ended up working more in biology! Weird.
