Tell her to find me an acre of land
(On the side of a hill, a sprinkling of leaves)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Washes the ground with so many tears)
Between the salt water and the sea strand
(A soldier cleans and polishes a gun)
Then she'll be a true love of mine

Tell her to reap it in a sickle of leather
(War bellows, blazing in scarlet battalions)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Generals order their soldiers to kill)
And to gather it all in a bunch of heather
(And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten)
Then she'll be a true love of mine

Gorgeous song Cate.........recognised it instantly......*smile in a kinda hmmmmm way ewmoticon*

Think Ian and me were only Syncros to tackle trial 2 mudslide descent? Both made it back to the top, but was a fight from the very bottom of that section to get back up due running on the skid plate through fearsome ruts ... Machos at 18 and Ian had MT's of some sort.

Yes Cate, 1967 if I'm not mistaken, or thereabouts...

and Gene Pitney died yesterday, same era? Only 65? So he's not 24 hours from Tulsa anymore... :(

Only 2 syncros, out of the 15 or so that went, that tackled that descent, hmmmmmmm do you think there lies the reason that others go off and play silly games?

I'm only surmising the other groups didn't tackle it, might be wrong... Roger went down in the Panda, don't think came back up. Waited at top for 15 minutes for Ian to pop back up to a round of applause (see Marks video)...

Do you mean playing in the mud pit down the bottom, filling their chassis' up :) [/i]

The route was set out to be perfectly driveable in either direction, it all depended upon the line taken. If you had chosen your route carefully there was a nice FLAT path up the hill in the midst of all of the ruts - ask Euan.

McGill's descent of the steep area could have been a lot better controlled and if you had cadence braked down it your descent would have been better controlled also.

If people remembered to leave the clutch well alone, keep their van in gear and cadence brake when necessary they would safely realise the full capabilities of their vehicles.

Euan tackled it on Sunday ?
I think Bob and I would disagree that by the time we attacked it, there wasn't an obvious flat area anywhere to return up, though we managed it after Ian, jumping from the the right bank to the middle and back a couple of times, but with some quite awesome bumps and bangs in a couple of areas and needing full power.

Wouldn't dream of putting the clutch in on a descent like that - fatal!
Kept straight the first time using small squirts of power, second time I took your advice and used cadence braking still ended up over-running to exactly the same spot as before, just alongside that small tree.

No, I only drove the first section with it, and that was done on the ~20psi tyre pressures and in one fell swoop (with a shunt at the tree turn). It was driven gently, with some of it driven in 1st, using the torque of the engine to maintain traction and flexibility of speed of movement, where needed.
