No, surely until you know how the prototype fits together, and that it actually works, pointless building the improved, optimised real production version... no , carry on checking that they did get it right third time after all, work through the stages logically, and finish with the 12V hairdryer built in to the T3's passenger headrest, all mod cons them later ones

Self employed...even easier!!!!

take the day off, fix the van, let me know how you get on so i can do mine and charge some old granny 10 times the going rate next week to more than make up for loss of earnings(assuming your a builder/leccy/plumber/mechanic etc, etc)

back again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i cannot drill that black box thing off(cant get to the screws) with engine in position, can i whack it off with a hammer and chisel?
i tried connecting the wires up (just plain silly) with 10 wires, connecting them individually (5 sets of 2) means there is a numerical combination sequence of approxi mately - 4 million 3 hundred and ninety seven thousand and forty two chances to 1, of getting it right. my battery charger is good (but not that good). the markings on the pump arent all clear but what can make out are as follows. in order
made in germany
460 484 101
574-1 bs 4027
vw audi 028 130 110.
it probably IS easy . if youve done it before(or your a mechanic) !! can anyone please help, its getting me down now

Sorry chap, I can't help much myself. Think i would try to find a similar engine installation elsewhere and photo/document thos connections and where they (seem) to go.. all is not straightforward without a kosher wiring diagram, which you never know, might exist soemwhere on the web if you can find an enthusiast site using these engines.

You might try registering and posting here, in the English IDI forum section...

VW GTD forum

'tis very good but don't know if that injection pump you've got would be like in the US, they do seem to know what they're on about though and is in fact a worldwide site, so try and keep fingers crossed.

PS. If that's a digi autofocus camera you're using, you might find it has a 'close-up' or 'macro' button to get better focus close in, they often have a flower icon marking them, fairly universal symbol for close-focus. Or find it in the menu-systen somewhere, though cheapies sometimes don't have such a thing.
Put link to existing photos and specify exactly what this engine/pump came out of, and year if possible.

Good luck, I wouldn't smash the black cover off myself unless I knew what was underneath, but then... desperate days does desperate measures bring :)

Keep at it, these diesels are bloody marvellous - just upped my boost to 12 psi and it hasn't gone bang yet!!! Simon'll be on here soon telling me I need more fuelling, that makes two of us then...

America, or Canada didn't get the 1Y. They probably won't know, worth a try though.

12.5 psi actually Si, with that bleed valve thingummy wound right out, no smoke to speak of, so must be running on thin air, eh? Making 12 ish by 2500 rpm, you should see the boost gauge, nah, I'll photo it, you'll just love it, like 20,000 leagues under the sea job, all brass and glass, or should it be glass and brass, no-matter, wouldn't want it on-board with a full passenger complement, that'll be a breakage right there... and it was all of £12 on eBay
