excuse the dumb question, but where are the relays in a 90's polo, as there are a few at the breakers i go to, but damned if i could find them!
we got a '19' relay for my mates van from the only golf there , but wouldnt mind a '99' to upgrade the '19' which mine has already got in it.
seems a top gadget to play with as said above! (i'm easily amused!)

They are in roughly the same place in all VW's I think - just above the fuses, under/behind the dashbord next to the door pillar, mounted on the body shell. Might have a bit of trim covering it which could be cunningly descised as a handy lower shelf or the back of the glovebox - Access should be possable without tools but might be a bit tight to get at the relays. On some cars its on the drivers side (like the mk3 golf); others its the passengers side (like the T3) and some of the bigger cars might even have a relay bord on both sides, only one of which will have the wiper relay!

On my scrapper I bearly had to find the relay bord as all the relays were already on the floor below it, I suspect someone had already visited it to take the standard automotive relays and just left the more fancy VW spacific control units. Aparently auto electricians often do this as they can get a bag full of OEM quality relays for next to nothing. If you do see any "53" standard automotive relays, no harm grabing them!

thanks glen,
i did notice that a lot of cars at the scrappy had every relay and fuse removed, good source of bulbs as well to keep in stock.
