Thanks Cruz,
you have confirmed wnat I was afraid of - that they are not longer available.

On the different numbers for the LT & T25 - I wonder whether this has to do with the point mentioned in the original post about the top brackets not lining up quite right on the T25. Do the T25 gaskets perhaps have a tapered, thicker section to make up the 'misfit' under the single bolt on the smaller return face? (On the bais that the gasket pictured in close up is an LT with the bracket rotated to fit?)

I doubt it. LT mirrors probably don't line up without a bit of mild persuading because the angle of a LT door is probably different to a T3. A T3 mirror arm will line up perfectly.

There are 3 screw holes on an upper bracket and I think originally T3 brackets only had two hence the handed gaskets. The most recent upper brackets were suffix A which suggests there was a previous design. I reckon the T3 page on etos just didn't get updated properly

LT bracket rotated to fit??? The close up (on the green van) is the correct bracket for that side of the van, you can't rotate them to fit the other side. The brackets are handed.

Cruz,
by 'rotated' I was referring to the misalignment you mentioned in the first post.

If you had fitted the bottom hinge first the single bolt hole side of the top bracket would, as you said, not line up properly with the door frame. It would leave a tapered gap, wider at the bottom edge of the bracket. I was suggesting that the T25 gaskets may have been made thicker in this area to allow the bracket to sit square to the mirror arm.

Anyway, if they are not available, it takes me no further forward.

cheers

Garyd

We've got LT mirrors on ours - and, having seen the "right" arms in the flesh, I've gotta admit, I prefer the look of the LT arms. They sit parallel to the slope of the windowed section of the van side, and they just look so much neater.

The _only_ drawback is that the opening quarterlight windows don't go past 90deg, the top of the glass hits the top of the arm - which, I presume, is why VW made the two styles rather than just fitting one to both. So - if you've not got the opening quarterlights, don't lose sleep. If you have, then make your choice. Personally, I can live with not having that little extra opening angle, in return for the better looks.

How did you do these top fixings? I've picked up some Syncro mirrors for my Westy and I'm considering different methods of fixing for the top bracket as there obviously aren't any holes there yet.

Just read all this...the top brackets are all the same...! The gasket is a taperered spacer on the t3 mirrors and th arms are different, as is the bottom brackets...but not the top ones.

You are wrong in that the top brackets are handed right and left and are not transferrable to either side.

Bottom brackers on LT and Syncro arms are different in that the bolt spacings are not the same. Syncro bottom brackets are available from brickwerks

T25 upper bracket gaskets do have an angled wedge on them but they are no longer available so flat gaskets can be used and even home made from rubber sheeting (ebay) as the arms can take the slight twisting need to fit them

it has all been covered in the thread somwhere

I drilled the door and fitted using torx pin self tappers from ebay

Oh deary me, I'm going to get a rollicking for playing on forums at this time of day when SHE thinks I ought to be working! But, I saw your lower grill and got very excited - it's pretty neat to say the least. Please do tell where you sourced it from as I like it a lot. Thanks in advance.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

I made my own using two cheap standard grills

You can get wraparound grills news from Justkampers or heritage but I think they are about £150

Evening all. Do you think it may be possible that these mirrors and arms may still available in mainland Europe? My reason for asking is that I have a very good friend in Lithuania that says that there are tonnes of T25's and LT's knocking about. I'm struggling to get the missus to use the van for the school run as she hates the fact that nearside viewing is nigh on impossible with the standard mirrors - I tend to agree but just chance the traffic anyway!!!! Cheers.
