Hi Sarah,
Thats a pretty eventful weekend
Not sure what mech skills Andy (El Sketcho) has, but I know he lives West London.
It might be worth your while sending him a PM and see if he'll come and take a look / help/ suck teeth and pull chin etc.

If you've gotta go, you've gotta go. (Camping that is )
did that bit that fell off look like it had a onion on the endof it?
if so chances are its just lost the 13mm nut and washer that holds it on the gearbox?
maybe im thinking along the wrong lines, post a pic up in the thread ??
I've arranged to buy a Haynes Manual but won't get it till the F&G meet.
Yes the bit that fell off looks like a bung with an onion on one end and a large rubber o ring type thingy. The breakdown mechanic was pretty sure it was the locator and it is pretty perished.
I put a photo on my FB page but not sure how to load one up here and FB crashes my machine at the mo.
I'll try to put it on the 80-90 FB group page.........
If ya want to mail me the piccie, I should be able to put it on thread for you ...... Also, what engine you got???? Aircooled, watercooled petrol, or diesel ........ I MAY have a spare Haynes manwell, for a watercooled 1.9.
Good luck
My doctor asked if any members of my family suffered from insanity, I replied, Hell no, we all kinda enjoy it.
Shoot low boys ..... they're ridin' Shetland Ponies.
Okey dokey, I'll buzz 'em tomorrow first thing then.
Now for the ignition barrel.
The young buck who was so desperate to get Tink started for me to drive home (it was like his personal challenge not to be beaten LOL) thought getting a new barrel off any old thing and just connecting up all the wires and "fixing" it somewhere "near" the steering column was a good idea!
Bless him, he was such a nice lad and sooooooo young! Nearly aspirated thru the lack of oxygen that was managing to seap thru his aftershave!
Sorry to hear of your problems, I have got your PM and replied, Book in post Tues 14th at earliest oppertunity. Hope it is fixable without too much trouble. I will get under my van tommorow and have a look close up and see how it all goes together. Hopefully it will be simple replacement without dismantaling too much. If you can't get replacement part, if you have the 2 bits that used to be 1, maybe it could be welded??
it connects the bit that is connected to the bit at the bottom of your gear stick that goes to the bit on the side of your gearbox.(sorry about being so technical)
what does it do?

Technical or literal?
I'll re-phrase the question I guess: is it's function to do with gear locating and when I have replaced it will I be able to change gear again?
