The ones off older Diesel Passats and Golfs will be the same (you might need to swap over the pulley

Thinking about this the alternator pulley diameter to crank pulley diameter ratio dictates the alternator to engine revs ratio and therfore the rev counter accuracy.

Are all T25 petrol/ diesel alternator pulleys and crank pulleys the same diameter?

Yes the link lacks pictures which say 1000 words,

Just looked at an old one I have in the shed, If I'm right it's screws out ( often seized), split alt and then solder onto the coils?

You can get an alternator rebuilt for 50 quid at a local place usually so maybe ask a local place if they will do this for you are not up for it?

Many thanks for the pictures, perhaps a little beyond my capabilities !

paying someone £50 to rebuild it and then buying the rev counter at £30 I may as well buy the tinytach :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

or I may just wait until it gives up the ghost and replace it then.

When it fails a new ( reconditioned) one will cost more than 50 quid.

Isn't the Ky mechanical Injection, I think the Tinytach requires electronic injection.

I may just give them a ring in the morning and find out what they say

Guy I spoke to said they send it out and don't take payment until its been set up and seen running, if not happy with it send it back-sounds fair enough

This will take you to the right page of my engine build thread for the alternator

Go for this I mean
Says here transducer on fuel line, not an oil burner expert myself but I'd have thought this would work wit mechanical.
says correct reading regardless of no of cylinders so must have some clever software to work it out.
need the right transducer diameter for your fuel pipe, not sure if they mean to pipe into the injection pump or a pipe to an injector?

Thats a different alternator to sternals, not sure I recognise it either, doesn't look like any of the Bosch fitted to these vans.

You are probably correct, I could not find that page on the sensor when fitting the Tinytach.
Clever bit of software as mechanical is fuel amount and electronic is on PWM.
