The plot thickens. The welder who originally had agreed to work on her locally has broken his leg...
We also had a VW nutter come and take an angle grinder to her (thats where things get really weird) exposing the rust to the elements...

We want desperately (overly emotionally attached to her) to keep Tilly rather than sell her cheap because she is a 'holly moley'.

Her engine is top notch 2.0 CJ, spankingly clean and runs like a dream. Her body is broken :(

Can anyone recommend a welder who could do the work for us in East Sussex/Lewes/Brighton area?
What would we expect to pay for this type of work? realistically it may not be worth it.

Thanks, invaluable 80-90 advice as always.

So what did the leg breaker quote,?
And why did you let another idiot loose with a grinder cheap ??? At a loss really ,we've given you the advice you need, its a scrapper onamy ways and not rare enough or with enough going for it to warrant the work ,chop it and put thwcash to a new one ,it will be better for your pocket

I don't think I'd pay someone to work on that van... it needs a lot of work. Maybe I'd do it as a long term diy project but if you're paying someone else it's a different ball game.
600 quid is very cheap. Fair play to you for finding someone willing to do it for that kind of money!
