Hi All,
I wonder if anyone can help with identyfing the closest european equivalent to the engine in a South African 5cyl 2.5i? I have a '92 with an engine code of AAY 008061.
My other question is whether the elictric motor for the passenger window mechanism is the same as for european ones and if it is what european part number I would need?
Many thanks

Audi engines
Found this after a bit of 'Googling' you will have to take it as it reads,,,,,,,,,,,
By 1991, Audi had the 4 cylinder Audi_80/Audi 80 , the 5 cylinder Audi_80/Audi 90 and Audi_100/Audi 100 , the turbocharged Audi_100/Audi 200 and the Audi_V8/Audi V8 . There was also a coupe version of the 80/90 with both 4 and 5 cylinder engines.
Although the five cylinder engine was a successful and very robust powerplant, it was still a little too different for the target market. With the introduction of an all-new Audi 100 in 1992, Audi introduced a 2.8l V6 engine. This engine was also fitted to a face-lifted Audi 80 (all 80 and 90 models were now badged 80 except for the USA), giving this model a choice of 4, 5 and 6 cylinder engines, in sedan, coupe and cabriolet body styles.

PS, Russel at 'Syncronutz' is perhaps your best man to ask about the window motors.

Russel at Syncro-Nutz should put you right about that engine too... being from SA and knowing his onions.

For now, worth knowing that some of VWSA's 5 cylinder engines in the transporters were SA specific developments, I think the 2.6 was anyway. The transaxles also have quite a few SA specific mods, brakes too..
Aidan (Beaker) will also be able to help, as a few others too...
BTW - Welcome
