Dog rough on LPG

WOOF WOOF. The van will not run above about 2000 RPM on LPG. it bucks like a bucking bronco YEEEHAAA! until warmed up. Need to start on petrol and run til the temp needle is about half way (about 5 miles!) before switching to LPG, then it runs OK, but as its a 1.9 carb you need to remember to switch over 0.25 mile before you park up so that petrol is coming though nicely when you start the van the next morning.

Is this a question or a statement? If it's a question, here goes. My Audi 80 was running on gas straight form the start up- I did what is called an emergency gas start for reasons too boring to go into-it wouldn't switch between gas and petrol without me putting the main air pipe back onto the fuel metering unit/air box-Bosch mechanical fuel injection. In the summer it was ok, but in the winter I sometimes had to wait for the eingine to warm right up, or the vaporiser just iced right up, to the point of being frozen solid, and I was bunny hopping too. If it's only just started doing it, it may just be the cold weather, or it could be the thermostat is a bit slower at opening, or there may be a bit of a blockage in the cooling system going to the vaporiser. The water pipes that went to mine had furred up a little inside too, so I just gave it all a good flushing out and clean up. Still had to wait for it to warm up though 'cos of the none instant switching thing. A right pain when I had to put the pipe back on in the rain and the cold etc.

hi mate had the same thing with mine went and seen steve at gasure who fitted it and hey presto fires first time everytime think its something to do with the choke but dont quote me on that im no expert give steve a bell he will sort you out no problems!!!

My DG always started (and still does) on lpg, even from bloomin cold, -18 last winter.. never needed to switch to petrol. for starting, unless empy of gas..

Something not right with the setup.. sounds lean, the choke isnt usually a problem.. just open the throttle a tad to get more air through.. or turn on ignition and let it time out then start.. (my normal start procedure from cold on lpg, pre charge the inlet with a little gas)

WHat make vaporiser and who installed?

Try the plugs. Info on Wiki.

Cooler type single point and gapped at 0.5 mil did the job for me. Havent touched petrol for three months now.
