coolant tank not filling from top up?

Post by Hacksawbob »

Hi I have a small coolant leak on the head, but the header tank doesn't seem to be filling from the resevoir (top up) any ideas? I've given it a bleed this evening only small ammount of air came out of the rad.

never been clear on how this works, does the top cap act as a one way valve to suck in coolant in the top as the level drop? or does it enter via the bottom tube?

:? Bob it blows hot coolant into the res. tank as it expands and then as the coolant cools it sucks it back into the rad tank, but cos yours is leaking its not sealed is it so not a full vaccum
