petrol turbo engines on lpg?

Post by angry vanagon »

hi has anyone used a lpg conversion on a subaru turbo engine before and how did it go? i was thinking of going down the petrol engine on lpg on my new van rather than the 1.9 tdi route on my curent van but a friend said you can't use lpg on turbo petrol cars but i thought it would be better for them than regular unleaded as the octain is higher and would help supress detonation?

Absolutely right. There's no reason why a turbo can't run on LPG and the higher octane (between 105 and 115) potentially allows higher boost to be run for more power! 8)
