Rubber or hard mounted?

Post by ermie571 »

Hi folks - should the carbs be rubber or hard mounted on my 2l air cooled. :?: :?: Stock solex replacing Webers which were rubber mounted. (anti vibration due to size??)
Linkage on stock carbs doesn't fit (slightly too short) am thinking removing the rubbber would use up the gap.

Thanks
Emma

Hi
Mine has 1/4 inch thick hard fibre gaskets on top of inlet manifold on both sides...you should have gaskets on top of each inlet...
Which linkage is too short?
If u have standard cross bar linkage and the correct accelerator cable coming through on the left side of yr right carb then should fit no probs... :D

Hi Al,
thanks for your response.
John (t'other half) has removed the thick gaskets and replaced with the metal ones that were supplied with the stock carbs. (came off a 2l cu engine) The cross linkage now fits. But the 1/4 thick gaskets are no longer present...but I do have the metal ones - hope this is OK?
