Be very careful! A mate of mine had a new water pump fitted on his 1.6D and to cut a long story short, it was out of line , shreaded the belt on a French motorway, blew one of the water hoses off and now he thinks the cylinder head has been over heated and will need replacing and thats on a new engine thats only done about 10k I think that the shim washers to take up the belt have not been put on on the right side of the pulley. Tell them to take real care with the allignment.

Just a thought.............
Is it the original engine?
The reason I say this is my 1.6d n/a has a golf JP engine fitted which is almost the same as the original CS.
when I replaced the water pump the pulleys were out of line..
So had to get one from a golf.
If you are not sure about the engines originality, check the first two letters on the engine number......
