Van's been SORNed for a year or so, about to go back on the road. I'd normally do an oil change first, but I'm going to be changing the oil filler pipe soon so it would be handy to wait until it arrives from Germany: hopefully 5-10 days. Moderate oil leak means that the engine is subject to a programme of continous oil replacement...
Is it absolutely essential to change oil and filter now? Just oil? Or could I hang on for 300-400 miles? Engine is not precious, 1.6 n/a diesel, but it's going to need to to a wee bit more yet.
Thanks again,
Steve.[/i]

oil
just change it wth the cheapest stuff you can buy then use better quality when you have sealed the leak
at leat the cheap oil will help clean the internals of the engine
