Water in the door electrics

Post by profibloke »

I know that this is probably Page 1 stuff but here goes anyway. In rainy conditions, the window switches in my doors sometimes short out. Wondered if anyone else has had the same prob? Is this a problem with the plastic door membranes or the rubber window trim (which looks in OK condition)? Is it easy to buy and fit the plastic membranes?

Thanks for any info.

Best

Door film,,,,,

Post by Fritz »

The things you refere to are now called insulators on modern day vehicles, they do as you suggest protect switch gear/mechanisms from water ingress .

If the door film/insulators are damaged then results can be a lot worse than what you all ready have, but the chances of getting hold of new specific door insulators for both doors may be silm, but you never know.

It is possible to fabricate your own with door clear film bought from a Good body shop suppliers.

Water in the door electrics

When I had to renew my ones, I used a clear plastic dust sheet from Homebase. Bit thicker than the old dustbin bags, and with double sided tape can hardly tell the difference
Health has now stopped me camping Etc.
