Post by OB1 »

Hi all ,have got a 1.9 dg engine (carb) lump in a 1983 t25 - i was wondering if im able to run the vehicle by connecting the two round 3 pin terminal plugs from the idle stabilization unit and use it all the time this way or will it do some damage ?-
I bow to your superior knowledge because i havnt got a clue

Yes you can. The ISU is known to cause problems and its stabalising qualities would not be required at anything above idleing speed. They can go wrong and the only way to test it is to replace it with a known good unit. (I dont think bentley has a test procedure correct if wrong) So if you idle OK without your set.

Mmmm never seen an idle stab on a DG (doesnt mean it wasnt fitted though) but I thought they were only fitted to the Aircooled ones....
It could be that so;eone has fitted an Aircooled distributor too, if a 1.6 then ok, but if off a 2L then advance curve will be all out of shape, whats the part number on the dizzy?

Thought the SteveW thread was longer than that, hope it hasn't been pruned, mayeb I'm looking at wrong one, but glad I put this in the Wiki at the time

People tend to jump to conclusions about the static iming, being either advanced or retarded when in fact its due to the vac/advance basic settings coming into play at difefertn throttle positions (i think)
