Erratic red light and needle on fuel gauge...

Post by macthejaffa »

Just purchased 1983 T25 1.9 watercooled and alls fine except for the red light on the fuel gauge flashes intermittantly and the needle flies to full for a few minutes then goes back to normal. It doesn't seem to affect the van's performance, but nonetheless its got me n my wife a tad worried! Both the water thing behind the number plate and the expansion tank are full enough, and the hoses that I can see seem to be fine.....Does it sound like a major problem?
