Heater Query

I have a Webasto HL18D instaklled and nearly running properly, had to get it refurbed so the bargain wasn't such a bargain in the end.

It seems sensitive to voltage drop the leisure battery and won't fire up properly if it drops below 12v, I have seen threads before that say about this for Ebers,
Do I need a more beefy battery I have a 60 amp hour at the moment ???

Any idea as I want to get some warmth

get a voltmeter on it and check it as its firing up ...could be that the battery is on its way out .....

how long a run is it from the battery to the heater?
if it is more than 75cm then try incresing the wire size to create less voltage drop, or shorten the cable run as much as you can, and "double earth it" by using the van body as neg which will help....

the voltage cut off will be infact 11v or 10.5v at the heater on start up, not at the battery, and this is to ensure you can still start the vehicle on single battery vehicles...... i have a switch over on mine so it can also run it off the van battery should the leisure battery drop voltage.....

Cheers for that, I will check cable diameter tonight and the cable run
is I would think about two metres, battery is about a year old.

Checked the wire diameter last night, it is what it came with, out of a van profeesionally installed, looks to be about 3 mm2.
There is a fuseway between the battery and the cable and another set of blade connectors at the heater end onto a short lead into the heater. Is this going to be a problem and do Ineed to get rid of one set of connections. Perhaps cable direct to battery and then fuses close to the heater ???

I'm confused now, i checked the voltages on the cables at the heater as there are two positive supplying and they read differently one is 11.7 v
the other is 10.43 v with the heater switched on. I am going to go through the wiring again and clean up all the connections as it is still refusing to run the pump and fire up, so I am getting a bit naffed off. I am guessing that the two need to have similar votages as the control unit will play safe and go to no firing up??? if it is not geeting the same input to each.

get the van running and then try starting it up .. sounds like a duff battery

Spent the weekend getting the heater working, all connections cleaned up and tightened, looks like a bad connection on a resistance wire was causing it to cut out early, the black box was telling itself something was wrong , this was the one thing I hadn't checked.
