Petrol Consumption
Last week I put 52 litres-£48-of petrol in my van and have done 260km-approx 160 miles. Is that good or bad? My van is a 2ltr Aircooled Westy Joker poptop, and I most definitely don't hammer it-much more fun to cruise!

Yeah, just short 3.5 trips to work and back. I don't really cane it though. Although to be fair I drove it back from Berlin last month on about 220 Euros to the services on the M20. Can't remember which ones though, just the first one I got to. We'll be getting it gased up sooner rather than later.......................

I think at the moment it needs a good servicing, but I can't get hold of a manual-I keep getting outbid on Ebay, so I'm just biding my time.When I've change the plugs and dizzy cap etc, I'll get the fule mixture looked at as the exhaust fumes smell really heavy, like it's on the choke all the time. Although I haven't checked that yet. Doh! That'll be tonights task then. 

If you look on the club80-90 Wiki and read the Tech forum here, most of the information you need is there.
If you think its running rich, ask the specific question on this forum, for the 1.9 DG if thats what it is.
If you refill your tank, to the same point as before (the brim or first click of the pump on a level forecourt), and clock the litres against the mileage at the last fill, you'll get a reasonably accurate fill-to-fill mpg, but you'd need to do this 3 or 4 times to be able to then say what the van is really doing consumption wise. Its very easy to do the occasional spot check on consumption and draw fasle conclusions, but a nice set of figures is really good data and much more useful to draw conclusions from. So once you've solved your rich running, you would then be able to see if the consumption steadily improved - a single spot-check after such a fix would be as good as meaningless - sorry, just my take from an engineering perspective. Its just so easy to keep a pad in the cab and note mileage and litres at every fill, even if its not to the top, it just doesn't matter when calculated out over many fills, or better still, plotted properly.

Cheers mate, I'll give that a try. Mine is a 2ltr Aircooled. CU code I think.I've checked out the Wiki, but there's some stuff I couldn't find, like changing the fan belt, but I do like to have a manual to read anyway. Toilet reading obviously!I do have a German manual, but I can't really translate it, and there aren't enought pictures to guide me.
Oops! 2.0 litre CU a/c then, a Haynes or the Bible > Bentley - JK do the Bentley manual £55 Ouch!
