Rear Lights - Where's my bulb?

Post by VWNZ »

This is one of those questions where a lot of you will now straight away and laugh at the simplicity of some van owners (well me!) :D

Just checked my lights on to see if they're all working, and noticed that the main passenger side rear was not working when I had the lights switched on.

I removed the light cover and there was no bulb for the main light (all other bulbs were there). Thought that was a bit strange, removed the cover for the drivers side, took out the 21w bulb from there and put it into the passenger side. This was when I noticed there was no, ah metal bit inside the bulb holder ro make a circuit for that bulb so it wouldn't work anyways. I've had the van for 18 months, it's passed it's MOT so it must have been like that when I bought it.

So basically my question is should there be a bulb for the rear main lights on the passenger side?

Thanks!

If your looking at the right hand side of the near side light cluster then its supposed to be like that. Its an empty slot for the fog light, there is only one on the vehicle and thats on the off side. As one fog light is standard fitting on the Type 25 then it passes its MOT ok.

doh! So that explains what the fog light switch on the dash does in the second position. First front fogs, second front fogs and rear! I have to email my mate with a Westy, we were trying to work it out at V festival.

Always a good day when you learn something new about the van. Now if you could just tell me what the cable that looks like speaker cable under the passenger seat does!

Cheers!

:o You got it!

If ur vans like mine an the electrics have been played with in the past, then that cable could be any thing. Is it still live? an not just an old speaker cable!
Ive a cable under there too that shouldnt be there. I found it led to the sliding door interior light switch as the proper fed didnt work.

Enjoy
