Gas on fridge

Post by strangely brown »

Whilst on holiday i tried in vain to run the electrolux fridge using the gas option, but all it would do is keep clicking when i held the button down. I think the pilot jet is clogged, to clean it do i have to remove the whole fridge, or can i remove the facia and do it with the fridge in situ.

any suggestions or tips
greatly appreciated.

S.B.

Fridges

Gas jet gubbins is low down at the back and prob only accessible by removing the whole fridge - might be possible but fiddly if you have a ventilation grille at the back in the right place - I have on mine but I'd still take it out to get at the workings - I fitted the fridge myself and set it up so I can slide it out by only having to remove about a dozen screws (8 are in the grille)

Fridge gas

Post by Mrben88 »

Umm- just a thought - and embarassingly i think this might have been happening to me....

Got new van - with Electrolux fridge and couldn't get fridge to work.

Just a pop of gas igniting but no pilot flame...

Got back from two weeks holiday - looked at a few things on the forum so tried those out etc.. still not much joy.

Then I managed to squash my head a bit flatter to the floor.

Funnily enough I could then see the flame - Which was nice.

Bloody difficult to see though - or maybe I've got beig ears.

Either way, if you get the gas to ignite it may just be that you can't see the flame.

Good luck

Fridge gas

Post by Mrben88 »

Ah - see mine has a little flap under the door on the left hand side.

Helpful if you are a gnome, but not for regular folk.

need to press face hard into sand and crumbs to see the flame.

Mine also has a little window in the bottom left of the fridge. Although its more like a little red mark, but I noticed it one night lit up from behind. But also on mine there is a little gauge on the top right of the fridge, with a white area and a red area. Although it might be green-I'm colour blind! When the fridge is lit the needle should move across from the white into the coloured area and stay there. Thats on my 1981 Westy Joker anyway. I can't remember the number of the fridge-I'm at work- but it is an Electrolux.

Mine also has the little window bottom left inside the fridge. If I'm having trouble getting the fridge going on gas I light one of my gas hobs so I know the gas is flowing and it normally starts quite easily then.

But then my fridge on gas is rubbish. Power is great tho.
